San Rafael is located at the foot of the Andes, with easy access to the canon of Atuel. The river that goes through here is popular for kayaking and rafting, and the reservoir for fishing.
Several fine wineries - bodagas - are located around San Rafael, including Bodegas Goyenechea, Bodaga Suter and Champanera Bianchi. Most have tours and tasting available. Check at the tourist office for complete information.
