The Moon-Pie is a special sort of Southern delicacy. Born in Chattanooga and found all over civilization (ie, the Deep South), the Moon-Pie is a heavenly pastry made of gooey marshmellow squished between soft flat cookies, and coated in flavored icing, either chocolate, vanilla, banana, or somethimes lemon and cherry. Traditionally served with RC Cola, the Moon-Pie is as important a part of Southern life as cornbread, catfish, sweet tea, rockin' chairs, and magnolia trees.

In Bell Buckle, Tennessee, a small hamlet in the hills of Bedford County, the locals produce the world's only Moon-Pie Festival. In 1995, they celebrated the 75th anniversary of the tasty treat. In its honour were staged live bands, shopping, and even the crowning of a Moon-Pie Queen! And of course, RC and Moon-Pies for everyone!

If you want to attend the Moon-Pie Festival yourself, then head on down to Bell Buckle on the Third Saturday in June (the day before Fathers' Day).
