Paris, France -- City of Lights, Crepes, and Surprisingly Friendly People
I like Paris. I really do. I admit, it helps that I speak French and that I'm naturally charming, but I really like the town. It's so...Parisian. Paris is one of those cities to which every other city is compared, usually unfavourably.
Paris has it all, and as such, time must be spent. If you try to do Paris in a few days, you are seriously shortchanging both yourself and the city. Paris' magic is not in its vast and overwhleming museums, its vast and overwhelming palaces, its vast and overwhelming parks, its vast and overwhelming departent stores, or its vast and overwhelming cathedrals.
The magic of Paris is sitting in a brasserie, drinking a Kronenbourg, watching the city unfold around you, and knowing that Hemingway or Sartre or Camus was at one point sitting, drinking, and watching just as you are. That's magic.
For those of you who have read this page already, it has been updated. There are brand-new travelogues full of witty commentary and brilliant photographs. Merci beaucoup! |

littlesam1 Wed Aug 13, 2003 20:41 UTC I love Paris. Its my favorite city. I did get to see the Mona Lisa and get a picture. I also love the song Cafe on the West Bank by Paul McCartney. Nice to see it on your page. | Confucius Tue Jul 29, 2003 11:02 UTC The other half of Osaka is at Seattle's Safeco Field trying to get tickets for the Mariners-Yankees match-up between Ichiro and Matsui. | Sharrie Fri Jun 6, 2003 07:15 UTC Sure, French & charm always do the tricks! I bought the museum card but these guys were on strike! So there goes Mona Lisa... no Osaka this time ;-) Not even Parisians! | ExGuyParis Fri Mar 14, 2003 16:54 UTC Trčs funny. It makes me sad to see the increasing waves of French bashing in the US. The worst is that moronic congresswoman in Florida proposing to dig up the graves of US soldiers here and ship them back to the US. Mama mia. |
