New York houses the United Nations. Geneva hosts more the most international agencies. Paris, London, Rome, Washington, all have their claim as the World's Capital. And they may be right. But no city has had a greater impact on mankind this century than Berlin. And no city has felt the impact of mankind more than Berlin.
From a Prussian garrison town to the centre of Empires to a city split between two collosal forces to the reunited capital of a reunited Germany, Berlin has seen it all.
And change is everpresent. In most of these pictures, you'll see cranes. Cranes overlooking every part of the city, building, constantly building, in an effort to make Berlin a city for the 21st century.
While that's going on, enjoy Berlin for what it is: the city of the 20th century.

I´m originally from Berlin - no need to feel unsafe in any way. Only be a little bit careful in the Eastern parts - but Berlin is a safe city!
