Xi'an

by scarletclarinet - last update: Aug 15, 2006

As soon as we arrived in Xi'an (via overnight train), everyone agreed that this is what they had in mind when they pictured China. The general look of the city seems to be much different from that of Beijing, which is no suprise seeing as Xi'an is one of the oldest, if not oldest, city in China. Apparantly they call it the "hotpot", and the heat was a fair bit more than what we experienced in Beijing, although again, the air conditioning was very good.

Pros:"Traditional, rich in history, strong culture"
Cons:"Quite hot!"
In A Nutshell:"A brilliant city to explore, especially in the evening!"

Great tip on McDonald's! I really like Chinese food, but now and then I need some greasy meat too. :-)
