I really enjoyed my stay at the Seoul Plaza Hotel. Service was great and rooms were nice and clean. Restaurants are good. Fitness center could be better. Ask for a room facing City Hall and at a higher floor and you'll get an amazing view.
Unique Qualities: The Seoul Plaza Hotel is one of the nicer hotels in Seoul. The best thing about the Seoul Plaza Hotel is its location. Located directly in front of the City Hall, it is at the center of downtown Seoul. Here you can really get a feeling of the fast paced Seoul lifestyle. Subway access is a few yards from the hotel and several landmarks are within walking distance from the hotel.

I have stayed at a half dozen hotels in Seoul and this one is the best so far. I can confidently say this hotel is one of the top 3 hotels in Seoul. The room size is the biggest of all the hotels I've stayed at (I've also stayed at the Millenium Hilton, Seoul Plaza Hotel, etc.). The bathroom is really nice. Staff is extremely friendly and speak English well. The restaurants are great and the fitness center is incredible.
Unique Qualities: Here are the unique qualities of the JW Marriott Seoul : 1.) First and foremost, the fitness center is the best. The fitness center at this hotel is better than most 24 Hour Fitness and Bally Fitness centers in the United States. I used the fitness center everyday during my 2 week trip (and I usually don't workout) 2.) The location is one of the best. It is connected to the Shinsegae Department store so shopping and hundreds of restaurants are within walking distance. There is also Central City which includes a movie theatre, underground shopping area and the bus terminal. 3.) The view : ask for a room facing the Han River and on one of the higher floor levels and you'll get an incredible view of the city and the Han River.

For $80 - $100 USD per night, the Seoul Ibis Hotel at Myeong-Dong is a great hotel for those on a budget or not looking to spend too much money. What sets this hotel apart from other budget hotels in Seoul is the location. Located in Myeong-dong (literally a few steps from the Myeong-dong shopping street), the convenience of this hotel is hard to match. Subway access is within a really short walking distance. The hotel is located within a 5 minute walk from the City Hall area. One block over is the Westin Chosun hotel and another block over is the Seoul Plaza Hotel. Within walking distance is the Namdaemun Market. The room is the smallest of any hotel I've stayed at in Seoul. So is the bathroom. If you don't plan on spending a lot of time in your hotel room, then this will do. Most of the rooms have a very nice view of the Myeong-dong area. If you don't bring a laptop computer, free internet access is available in the lobby of the hotel. Staff members spoke good english and were very friendly. The restaurant on the top floor was a great place to grab a drink at night. It has a great view and a great place for conversation. If I want to spend less than $100 USD per night on future trips to Seoul, this hotel will be my top choice. The main reason this hotel beats other budget hotels is the location and convenience.
