I guess the fact that I can't wait to re-visit Krakow says it all. The snow-covered city of November '05 left a lasting impression with it's welcoming people, lovely buildings and wallet-friendly prices. Luckily the city's architecture survived WWII virtually intact and, therefore, there are many wonderful buildings to admire as you wander around this fairly small city. |
| | Main Square Krakow's main square which hosts the city's Christmas celebrations and his home to the Cloth Hall. The Cloth Hall contains rows of small stalls selling all kinds of gifts and souvenirs - usually chess sets or Russian Dolls! |
| | Oskar Schindler Made famous by the Steven Spielberg film 'Schindler's List', Oskar Schindler saved his Jewish workforce, around 1,100 people, from the clutches of the Nazi's 'Final Solution'. The factory, after being used by various different businesses after the war, is now a small museum to Schindler. The caretaker will let you in the building if you hang around outside the front door. Inside you can see a model of the factory as it was during wartime and walk up the stairs to Schindler's office. The front gate and exterior views were used by Spielberg for his film but the interior shots were filmed elsewhere. |
