Cartagena de Indias, Colombia

Downtown is the heart of this city and is a testiment to preserving historic structures. The main entrance is by the clock tower "Torre del Reloj" When entering through here one can see a various style of buildings and churches. From here one can travel to the plaza and enjoy a meal and tasty beverage and shop at traditional stores as well as mainstream outlets. At night is a great idea to take a carriage ride tour of the town and it cost about 35-40000 pesos although i feel sorry for the horses. At night it is a good idea to stay away from the dark streets and do not follow the people who offer you entrance to night clubs. Dont give money to the kids because it make the problem there worse.

Bocagrande

Bocagrande- El Laguito is one of the newer parts of cartagena where some of the major hotel chains are. There is good shopping and dining over here, not as good as downtown but it is definately less expensive. One can find that this picture was take at a restaraunt I believe was called "green" which is to the left of the hilton against the bay. The area is filled with locals who live in the dozens of high rise apartments in the area.

Beaches

The beaches are fun, there are alot of people there having fun. In Bocagrande-El Laguito you can find some beach parties which are a blast. Some parts are dirty. I personally didnt swim in the water just because I heard a rumor that sewage get drained in the ocean but that didnt stop thousands of tourist from doing so. Just a personal preference of mine. Dont eat anything from the beach especially seafood because people will try to rip you off if you are a tourists.
