The Roman influence | A replica of Emperor Constantine's foot |
I love the fact of the heavy Roman influence this far north of Rome. Constantine lived here and was a huge influence on the history and architecture. It is evident in the buildings. We were there during the multi city celebration of his reign. In Protestant Germany this city remained staunchly Catholic. And what influences did it exert on a young Karl Marx, whose birth place is close to the cathedral? It is an interesting town with so much to draw ones interest |

Segolily Sun Jul 19, 2009 15:54 UTC Sorry, no, but it was the only restaurant with a patio on the square. | yatingchen Sun Jul 19, 2009 05:23 UTC Hi, did you find the name of the restaurant? : ) | Nemorino Fri Jul 3, 2009 14:30 UTC Your tips bring back nice memories of the six months I spent in Trier in the 1960s. I took the city's training course for tour guides (I was supposed to do it in English), but then had to leave before I actually got to lead any tours. | ranger49 Thu Jul 10, 2008 11:03 UTC That's all we had - one full Sunday and loved it. There was an orchestra - not a band - playing, near a fountain, I think, with the Porta Negra at the end . A nice page! |
