Ik hou van Amsterdam

The Coffeeshops

De Dampkring (Atmosphere)
Lets be honest one of the main reasons people visit Amsterdam, is it's relaxed attitude to drugs, certain things you should be aware of NEVER buy drugs on the street, it will at the least be crap at worst it will be fake!! Now i will recomend 3 of the best Coffeeshops 1. The Dampkring on Handboogstraat of the Kalverstraat (the dutch oxford st) here they have probably the biggest menu in Amsterdam with at least 20 types of skunk and about 15 types of hash, also the interior is heel erg mooi 2. 420/De kuil Oudebrugsteg great music and great smoke i can't recommend the Neville's Haze enough it is one of the most powerful sativas in Amsterdam3. The Greenhouse on the Tolstraat is in south of the city (tram 4) this is where all the celebs come to get high the walls are covered with pictures of past visitors the likes of Eminem, Quentin Tarrantino,50 Cent and many more, the smoke here is always out of this world, not the biggest selection but always worth the journey, there are a few other half decent coffeshops in Amsterdam but these 3 are without a doubt the best.
***UPDATE Barneys wins the cannabis cup 2006 as does The Greenhouse
***NEW UPDATE**** Smoking ban comes into force on the 1st july 2008, this could be the begining of the end for Amsterdam as it was once known, so get there before then. YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED for a list of coffeeshops that allow tobacco see Things TO DO Section .
Keizersgracht

Food and Drink

There is no shortage of places to eat in Amsterdam, Dutch fare which is good hearty food such as stews, pea soup and the like, Indonisian food is very big on Holland as it was a colony of Holland. But if your just looking for a snack (the munchies) Try FEBO these are places where the food is on display behind glass drawers all you have to do is put in your mony open the drawer and eat your food such as burgers, croquetts filled with beef, lamb, chicken and even veel they also sell Vlaams friets (belgian chips) these are usally served with lashings of mayo, but my favourite dutch snack is the pancake these can be bought at many outlets in the city, just look for Pannekoekhuis the best is on the flower market, here they fill them with banana, chocolate, syrup and also savoury fillings this always deals with my munchies. Now to the drink there are tons of bars, bruin bars which are small dark drinking house that sell some of the most exotic beers i have ever tasted and also some of the most disgustinghuh, there are also bars that specialise in gin ( Jenever ) some have at least 30 different types on offer, but don't forget not all bars tolorate people smoking joints,it is polite to ask before sparking up and most bars will be happy to let you smoke.

Hi Kenny. I considered your coffeeshop tour for a minute, then realised what they are all about! I prefer a more staid brew, so might pick a different Amsterdam activity this time...have fun!
