Where I spend most of my time I go to school at SFSU, which has been so good to me. Despite horrible parking, the campus is gorgeous and is close to many things I love: Lake Merced is across the street with its cypresses, golf course, and jogging trails. Ocean Beach is always good for a dune-top homework session or a breath of fresh air at luch. Fort Funston is my favorite cliff-top in the city, with birds and hang gliders soaring just over. San Francisco Zoo is a lucky field trip to get to go on in Biology. The Conservatory of Flowers and the Botanical Gardens are nearby for plant taxonomy outings. When I leave for grad school, I will miss this place, for whose unpredictable fog I kept a winter wardrobe in my trunk. |

Where I go for outdoor things to do San Francisco loves its parks, basks in them, raises their dogs and children in them, murals them up, and strips them down back to nature. Most of all, people around here get out and love them. The natural areas are managed under the Natural Parks Conservancy, which has the best activities in the world. See my "off the beaten path" pages for SF to learn about things to do outdoors in the city and nearby. While the Conservancy operates in city and the northern areas, fun outdoor things in the East and North Bay can be found through Save the Bay. They operate kayak tours of Napa's wetlands as well as Schooner ship day cruises throughout the year and lots of birdwatching and plant restoration stuff. Save the Bay is at www.savesfbay.org |

Where I go for music San Francisco has tons of great music. I particularly enjoy jazz and eclectic rock. When I find a hot tip, I call up Curt and let him know that we're busy, simple as that. Usually I find my events with these resources: - SF Gate (free weekly newspaper) www.sfgate.com - Great American Music Hall (a great venue) http://www.musichallsf.com/ - Bistro Yoffi for good, intimate jazz and dinner (see my SF restaurant pages) - SF Symphony when they go on sale because MTT (the conductor) rocks! - The Hemlock for small bands/shows www.hemlocktavern.com - KCSM independent jazz radio's datebook http://events.publicbroadcasting .net/kcsm/events.eventsmain |

| Pros: | "Parks, museums, food, music, weather, views, history, surroundings" | | Cons: | "Too many yuppies, hipsters, expensive parking & transport, no one cares about the trainsients, few leave the city for the rest of the bay." | | In A Nutshell: | "This is where I'd like to raise my family." |
