Skardu, the capital city of Baltistan (Northern Areas of Pakistan) situated at nearly 2500 m. Karakorum Highway connects Skardu with Islamabad. Pakistan International Airlines offers regular flights between Skardu and Islamabad. The flying time is approximately 45 minutes and the journey is one of the most scenic flights of the world as its route passes over Nanga Parbat and other snow covered mountains.
Skardu city is surounded by gray-brown color mountain which turn into white color in winter due to heavy snow fall in the region. Heavy snowfall also cuts its connection with other cities of country.
Skardu is major hub of all trekking expeditions of Nortern Areas of Pakistan. The best season to visit is from April to October.
