Florence is simply magnificent! Divided by the River Arno, Florence is easily segmented for viewing. Climb to the top of the Campanile (300-plus steps) and view the Duomo and surrounding city. See a wonderful Pieta that contains a self-reflection of Michaelangelo as an older man. Examine the statue of David at the Academy, or go on a guided tour (reservation a definite necessity - can be done online) of the Uffizi Gallery. Shop at the Piazza di San Lorenzo markets. Get ready to bargain! Dine alfresco and sip on caffe latte. Watch the colors of the Ponte Vecchio and surrounding buildings change from the beginning of the day through sunset. Bella Firenze! |
