Tuesday i have done a beautiful trip with my aunt. I have seen a bit of things but I think that one journey to visit Bergamo isn’t enough. In spite of I have always come to Bergamo I haven’t ever been in Città Alta and I must say that it was better than what I thought. |
| | A LITTLE BIT OF HISTORY Bergamo was founded in the 1200 b.C. by a ligurian tribe who settled on one of the 7 hills of the present Città Alta. Its first name was Barra. In the 600 b.C. the city was engaged by the Etruscans and from them it was strengthed. Later it was invaded by the galli and the name of the city changed in Bérghem used yet today in the local speech. The city after many different domination (Romans, Huns, Ostrogothics, Longobards) became to the frenches. In 1989 the municipal age was born in bergamo. very important is the Pontida’s oath that seaved the Lombardy league against Barbarossa. With the Costanza peace Bergamo reassumed the filo-imperial politic. In the 1206 splitted the first sparks of dissension between guelf and ghibellian. In the second part of 1500 the Venetian republic begun the cyclopean fort of Città Alta. In the 1630 the plague ( desoribed in the Manzoni’s promessi sposi), preceded from a big famine, done 10000 victims in Bergamo. On the 13 march of 1797 Bergamo’s republic was born the, it was the end of the long Venetian domination. With the Campoformio treatise, begun the french domination. After the fall of Napoleone in the 1814 Bergamo passed under the Austrian. In the 1848 Bergamo sent, in opposition to the Austrian in the “five days battle”, trups to help Milan army and to complete the passage of the Tonale and stop the enemies. Garibaldi, at the begin of the “alps hunters” entered triumphaly in Bergamo from the San Lorenzo door. It was the liberation from the foreigner (8 june 1859). In the first world war (1915-18) the alpini of Bergamo distinguished theirselves for their particular bravery. After the twenty years of fascism, Bergamo organized the resistance too. The partisans of the red and green flames marked on the valleys and on mountains, episodes of great bravery. |
