We climbed all of the stairs to the top of the Arc Triomphe in the evening to see a spectacular view of Paris at night including the lights of the Eiffel Tower. This is one of the landmarks of Paris that must be seen and the view from the top enjoyed.

You can't visit France without going up the Eiffel Tower but be forewarned that it is really windy and cold in February, so dress warm if you visit in the winter. Don't forget to take your postcards and have them mailed from the Post Office within the tower; the cards will be marked with a special Eiffel Tower post mark.

There are many museums in Paris and the Louvre is the granddaddy of them all. If your schedule permits, spend a whole day there and you still will not see it all. My favorite section was all of the grand sculptures on display. When you arrive there, take a few minutes to review the guide map and prioritize the areas you want to visit and have a blast. Decent restaraunt on the premises to eat lunch at so that you can enjoy a fantastic day at the Louvre. I will definitely return to the museum when I get to go back to Paris.

The Sacre Couer is a magnificent church sitting at the top of Mont Marte. We rode the funicular to the top and immediately took in the awesome sight of Sacre Couer. Make sure you walk around the perimeter of the church and don't forget to spend a few minutes to enjoy the view of Paris and watch the people and performers.

Paris offers a selection of museums like no other city. The D'Orsay is a must see in Paris and you can see most of it in about 4 to 5 hours. If you like the Impressionists and enjoy sculpture, make sure you visit this museum. The museum used to be a train station and the interior is a site to see in itself.

Nemorino Wed Jan 17, 2007 08:10 UTC Glad you enjoyed your visit to Paris despite the February weather. I spent ten days there last June and had a great time cycling around in a heat wave. |
