Walking is the best way to get around the city, so long as you know where you are going. Maps are always helpful, but try to get a small one. You will not only burn those unwanted calories but you will get to sightsee as well!

Taxi's are good way to get to and around the city. However, if you are going to the city from where ever you are , this may be an expensive way to travel. Once you are in the city though its very inexpensive. You can share the ride with a bunch of people, for a regular taxi, max 5 people. The fare is usually only like 5-7 bucks , depending on where you are going. But figure your going to split that with 5 people, thats cheap ! But beware the they are the taxi drivers from hell. They will get you where you are going, but the ride could scare the *** out of you. they get there and they get there fast . they even have extreme " oh *** " handles . Beware !

This is the best website ever . I use this all the time when I go into the city . When I lived in long island this was such a get tool for me because I would find out where I should go from penn station , because that is where I would come in at . From there it would tell me to walk on the street however many blocks or take the subway from penn station to this street then get out and walk this many blocks . You can also choose if you would like more walking , or more subway . Its such a great tool to use and I am so happy I found it online .

NYC Subways are a great way to get around in the city. As long as you figure out which way is uptown and which way is down town, and you get on the right train, your good ! All you have to do is get a subway map NYC and you will see little different color circles all over the map. Those circles mean which train to get on and off. They have little numbers and letters inside the circles, and they also tell you which blocks they are located on. An average metro card going one way is 2 dollars. A round trip, which is 4 dollars gets you to 2 stops. and a 5 dollar i believe is a fun pass and you can travel as much as you want all day, on which ever line you want to go on. there are also monthly passes as well.

I went to Harlem today to meet with a client about a Website I am creating for him. The drive was fast, and confusing. I had to bring my boyfriend along, so he could be the designated "Sign Reader". If he wasn't there, I think I would have gotten lost - BIG TIME ! The people in the city , drive like animals . I don't know how they even got their license. What's worse , is the fact that out of state drivers, think they can drive at slow speeds and get away with it. City driving, is deffinatly not for out of state drivers. Parking is scarce, so If you see a spot, grab it quick ! Street parking in most places is usually free, no parking meters or anything. Remember to park very close to the curb and if you've got folding mirrors .. USE THEM ! Its very common to come back with a broken off one if your not careful . Good Luck , and Happy Driving !
