On the main street in Bern, shops are located in a mile-long arcades of low buidings, from which flags signifying various Swiss folk colours and patterns are hung. Intermittently, there are columns or fountains bearing Swiss folk legends. Frequenting this busy main street are red/orange/white trams, almost rubbing shoulders with those curious tourists with a ding and a dong.
