Le Château: Irresistible charm

Start your Nice journey from the Chateau area to the east of the city, where it immediately links up Monaco, which can be easily viewed from the raised location of the promenade. There the Promenade des Etats Unis begins. Soon the Promenade des Anglais connects along the route all the way to the west of the town. The entire promenade is of course flanked by the pebbled beach. Sun-bathers and beach combers dot the area on a hot summer day in July.

On the promenade there are mostly tourists, bikers, inline skaters and whoever just wants to watch the world go by. There are a few shaded area under the tents, but who would mind a bit of tan in such a lovely place. Beside the promenade is the only driveway so it is busy all the time and parking is near impossible. Train station is about 20 minutes away though. Lining along the driveway are posh hotels and a variety of shops and eateries.

Sun bathers of all ages and nationalites flock to this beach spot right until the sun sets at around 8 pm. Even locals spend a couple of hours' relaxing time after work, just bringing with them a knapsack for light beach wear (or no wear). Here you see four lads frolicking on the beach, as waves comb the shore. Some French movie images, don't you think?

Walk up eastward to the rocky promontory and immerse yourself in the wonderful sounds the waves comb the shores against a strong westward breeze. Of couse, soak in plenty of warm sunlight over the blue Mediterranean waters. Notice amorous couples stay on the rocks for added romancing.
