Dusit Hotel Nikko (Ayala Center Makati City 1223 ): Not what I expected for my $$$
  • Tip Rating: [Not enough ratings yet]
  • Satisfaction:
  • I stayed here last September 2006 and was not impressed at all. I had to pay more because all the regular rooms were taken at the time of my booking, so instead I was booked for an executive room.

At first, I thought that the accomodations would have been better since it was the executive floor that had its own concierge lobby service and needed a special key to get into. But, boy was I surprised when I went into my room. The room was definitely old and shabby. The bed looked lumpy and the bathroom was definitely in need of a major renovation. The sink was cracked and the tub would drain slow. I'm glad that I only had to stay for one night.

The only upside about this hotel was its location. Its close to the Glorietta and Shoemart Dept. Store. But other than that, I will def. not stay here again!

Unique Qualities: Good location to shopping malls. As soon as you step out of your hotel, the mall is right there.

Bayview Park Hotel Manila: You get what you paid for! Compare Rates

  • I stayed here for 5 days in June of 2005. Luckily, I got a special rate of about $50 / night. But, as my title says "You get what you paid for!".

The rate itself was great, but other than that the accomodations were really $50 worth. The room was tiny and the bathroom was just as tiny! The one good thing about the bathroom was that the plumbing was good, but the shower stall was really small. The room had a funky smell to it, and every once in a while I would see a cockroach or two. What I did like about the room was that the AC was cold!

The hotel has a Starbucks located at the bottom, so it was the one place where me and my husband could grab something to eat. They do have the Baywalk where you can walk to at night to peruse the many small restaurant kiosks, but we did not take advantage of it. Other than that, don't expect much shopping venues.

On another note, my sister stayed here a couple of months later and said that they were doing some renovation - so hopefully the rooms are better now.

    Hotel Inter-Continental Manila: The Intercon
  • Tip Rating: [Not enough ratings yet]

  • I stayed here twice in 2002 and again in 2005. I've always wanted to stay here because of the reputation it has as being a Manila Institution. In fact, my mom would always tell me that this is the place to grab brunch because of its great food, service and customers.

The first time I stayed here, the service was exceptional. The elevators each had their own person to help you and at every floor there was always a guide/guard/helper. The interior was very reminiscent of the old time Manila Type of flavor. In fact, I loved walking through their hotel hallways because it is paneled with a beautiful wood.

The second time I stayed here, was not as good as the first, but still it will definitely be a hotel that I do not mind staying at again.

I love staying here because its located right next to the Glorietta Shopping Mall and its great restaurants. In fact, in the morning or just before you head back to your room be sure to buy some bread from breadtalk! YUMMY!

Unique Qualities: Old time manila favor.

Great shopping as soon as you step outside of the hotel.
