In the middle of Denmark lies Odense, birthplace of HANS CHRISTIAN ANDERSEN. You probably remember the fairy-tale about the UGLY DUCKLING or THE LITTLE MERMAID. Odense is the city where Hans Christian Andersen was born. Later in his life he became a famous sculptor, dancer and "best known" a fairy-tale writer.
Odense is Denmark's third-largest city - the fairy-tale capital of Funen, home of 200,000 people and with a history stretching back over 1000 years.
