Talofa!
Samoa - The Cradle of Polynesia - is divided into two large islands, Upolu where the capitol Apia and the international airport is located and the largest but less populated Savaii. Between these islands lies the two small island Manono and the even smaller Apolima. To be able to experience at least the islands of Upolu and Savaii about two weeks is recomended, if you want to spend a few nights relaxing in a ocean front fale on a nice beach.
This must be paradise, unspoilt, no highrise hotels and no more visitors than that you get a to know the local poeple and the Samoan life.
I visited Samoa for a week in March 2001, which of course was not enough time to experience all that this small beatiful country has to offer, but better than not having been there at all. And a good reason to one day return.
Have a look at my travelogues for some of my precious memories. |
