Lasipalatsi by Mannerheiminkatu |
This is the city that I most likely will end up after running around the world.
I was born here, in 1973.
If you've ever travelled to Stockholm via ferry, you'll notice how Helsinki and Stockholm resemble each other. However, Helsinki is quite smaller in size, comparable to Copenhagen, Denmark. What I really like about Helsinki are the walking avenues, and Esplanadin Puisto (or Espa, as we say in Helsinki). There's plenty of great architecture, especially around Senaatintori and Espa.
The panoramic shot here shows Mannerheiminkatu (or Mansku), the main street piercing through downtown. Along the street, there's Forum shopping mall, Main Post Office, Kiasma, Eduskunta (parliament house), Finlandia Talo (the concert hall), Opera house... and much more. Also, several tram lines run on it. I recommend riding in one of those.
