Restaurant Name: la naranzaria

this hip/chic terrase on the grand canal right next the rialto bridge (http://www.naranzaria.it/eng-map.htm). the cuisine is modern italian restaurant with a wine and oyster bar. and it is the only place in venice you will find some sushi. but on top of that it's a sushi chef they brought from japan. the atmosphere at night is very plaisant with a beautyfull scenery. it is most probably a pioneer of a more edgy or modern venitian nightlife.
good looking crowd, lotsa locals, it's the trendy place to be...

the owner stefano is very helpfull.he gave us is own table since him and his guest (8 of them) were finished eating saying : "we only need one table for the drinks, we'll give you the other one if you let me a minute".

after our meal he invited us for a drink and he introduced us to his guests and we reformed the big table again an it was simply a GREAT evening.

Favorite Dish: really can't complain about the food. we had shared antipasto and went for a grilled vegetables lasagna and a risotto with zucchini flowers, peas and pancetta, very nice, presented in a less traditionnal way.

for the wine we had the TRE ANNI from Vistorta (a winery from veneto)gotta try it wine lovers. It,S a blend of three vintages in the same bottle. very good. a discovery.

for dessert: the red wine poached pear stuffed with ricotta and chocolate sauce with a sweet wine from veneto as well... a must!...

good grappas too! but if I keep on going you won't take me seriously anymore. :0)

Restaurant Name: Harry's Bar

harry's bar That"s a bellini the real thing made in front of you with white peach pulp and prosecco.

this over crowded bar is a venice classic.

expensive but well worth the effort for whom enjoys all the memories it carries since the 40's.

for me it was more of a pilgrimage I had to see it. nonetheless that my critic is objective.

bellini- 15 euro (4 OZ/120 ML my estimation)

harry's sandwichs 8 euros (in fact 2 very small batter-fried veal pattie) not impressive at all but Hemmingway apparently loved them.

as an example for main dish green peas risotto around 40 euros. beside the price it was good.

but if you wan't my opinion, if you don't care to see harry's bar ,don't go.
