Truly is Zion If any body gets the chance to stop by this incredible destination, you would be foolish to pass it up. I will load photos when I return home. The views are incredible, and the park does a great job of keeping everything pristine, not allowing cars to travel past a point fairly close to the entrance. |
Angel's Landing This was one of my favorite area's in the park, it is a couple thousand feet vertical in only a couple of miles (lots of zig-zagging back and forth) and towards the top it becomes a hike along small edges of rock. But don't worry, there are chains in most of the dubious areas to ensure you can hold on. Be careful though, it is a relatively tiring hike, especially if you are out of shape, and there is notmuch to keep you from falling a couple thousand feet. If you do continue however, the view is absolutely worth it. It is INCREDIBLE |
The Narrows Make sure, if you are going in the summer, to pack some water shoes (good ones, not the kind you get for 2.50 at the local dollar store) because this hike is probably my favorite i've ever done. It is a 16 or 17 mile hike down from the upper canyons to the main part of Zion. Unfortunately I didnt have the time to make the whole hike, so I just did a few miles from the end up into the Narrows and then turned around. It is a walk through a river that cuts through canyons, so at all times you are walking through the canyons and in the water... its beautiful, fun, and can definitely cool you down on a hot day. be careful for the drop offs, as i found out when my fiancee was taking a picture, and i wanted to get waste deep.. only to fall in so the water was at my neck. Also, check the conditions with the rangers, that area is prone to flash flooding even if rain is MILES away.. |
