Info for the First timer

Nestled within the splendid pine and spruce forest at Valens are 220 campsites -- 83 sites with hydro and water. An additional 10 sites are available for group camping. The campground is open for camping in any season. Valens has everything to make camping enjoyable: modern washrooms, shower and laundry facilities and playground equipment. The campground is open eleven months out of the year, so visitors can experience nature in all seasons. Valen's new campground store, located in the heart of the campground, offers everything you need for the perfect camping trip. Pick up the essentials, like bread, ice, milk or firewood, or a tasty treat like chips, pop or ice cream.

Valens can be reached at 905-525-2183 or 519-621-6029 to make a reservation.

Valens also offers some of the best fishing around. Take on the monster northern pike, largemouth bass and panfish lurking beneath the surface of the lake. You can fish from boats, from the fishing bridge, and from piers located around the lake. And be sure not to miss the popular John Burns Memorial Fishing Derby, which takes place on the second Saturday in July. Dozens of great prizes are up for grabs in both junior and adult categories making this day popular with both serious anglers and families.

Any summer day, swimmers and sunbathers can enjoy the sandy beach, and a chlorinated swimming area that is screened from the rest of the lake. Tubes and flutter boards are available to rent. Please note that the natural swimming areas are not supervised and do not have lifeguards on duty.

Valens takes nature appreciation to new heights with its 10 kilometres of trails and 300-metre wetland boardwalk. Visitors can also climb two observation towers, each offering stunning views of the surrounding forests and lake. While beautiful any time of year, autumn has become a popular viewing season due to the migrating waterfowl and colour changes in the area landscape.
