I'm here cause I like travelling

by MariaK - last update: Apr 21, 2008

Some places I've been...

Here is my home-sea, beautiful childhood summers
...such a lot of places I haven't been. I like reading about them and looking at the pics, until I find the time and the money to really visit them.

April 24rth 2008: Long time no update...

...so I thought I'll leave the old page below and follow up, up on the page. Let me reorder this chapter. This is the one reflecting my life now, and the others are beautiful reminders of the time I first joined VT...

So, things change, people change. The love for going around, meeting new people, and visiting new places stays. Different aspects, different companies, different times, different places to see always. Being happy or being sad, there is something to get out of every journey. To remember, to forget, lazy sunsets, walks on tranquil beaches, tiring you feet on cobbly roads, under the sun, under the rain, trying to keep your feet from freezing. Remembering and forgetting.
Germany, Bacharach - what's in this well anyway?

We were travelling and then we had company...

We waited until our son got 1,5 years old and we took him to a trip to Italy by our car.
I was afraid at the beggining, travelling abroad with a small kid could be a disaster, but I thought, "Look all these tourists coming to Greece from far away carrying infants on their backs... It's probably working".

And we had a great time! The boy was speaking Italian when we came back ("ciao grandmaaaaa" "ciao cousin") and he had tasted real italian pizza and gelato - is this a lifetime experience or what? :D

So next year we tried a new route to reach Germany. We had a great time too. So, it IS working!
Memories :D
I found out that travelling with a small child is much slower of course, and you can't really enjoy a cold beer or a nice cup of coffe beside the lake (the sea, the castle, the museum, the piazza and so on), or watch the beautiful peaceful sunset with no worries anymore.

But you are visiting places that you wouldn't if you didn't have him with you. I wouldn't have visited the Milan park or the Lecco playground another way :D
I'm serious, this really IS fun.

*******

"Hey, don't go into the sea" "no you can't have another icecream, you already had three" he he...

Such a photo will be taken again after something like hmmm 20 years from now?:D:D:D
Yes, I think it'll be 20 because recently we became more in the family...
Hello girl, welcome to our planet.

So more company came...

...she is less tha a month old now and she is a doll :)

The one who first said "sleeping like a baby" didn't have a baby in his house, thats for sure. So, now, during this sleep deprivation period, I remember places I have visited, photos I've taken, people I've met and I build my travel pages. And I dream of the places I want to visit next, while visiting other peoples travel pages.

I will have to wait for a while until the sterilizing period ends and then, I guess our next trip will be planned for the four of us.

Grow up fast, so that we'll take you with us...

...when we will go to Machu Picchu, Easter Island, Alaska, Nepal, New Zealand, Japan.

Ok, let me change a diaper and then I'll come back daydreaming :D

********************************

...and until then, I may go to see South America. I'll have to do some googling, what kind of presents do you bring home for children from Buenos Aires. Or Rio. Or Mondevideo. Soccer balls and Havaianas.
