Getting TO/AROUND: The current fare (Valletta-Senglea) is 20 cents (= EUR 0.47) for adults and 15 cents (EUR 0.35) for children. The bus to board is bus number 3, with a full timetable available at the Valletta terminus.

Buses start at 06:00 (Mon to Sat) or 07:30 (Sun) and operate at 30-minute intervals (on the hour and half-hour) until 22:00 (Mon to Fri). The journey should take around 20 minutes, but be aware that two routes exist, both of which start at Valletta terminus and end at Senglea terminus.

Circular routes operate in summer. In 2006, bus 22 operated the Senglea-Marsascala circular, starting at 08:15 in Senglea and finishing at 22:30 in Marsascala. Frequencies vary, but are mostly hourly on the half hour. This is subject to demand however and timetables may vary withour prior notice - it is best to check on the day you intend to use the service.

Getting TO/AROUND: A second way of entering Senglea is by boat, from across the harbour in Vittoriosa. Pricing tends to be creative, but last time I took the boat (August 2006) it was around EUR 7.00 for the trip (irrelevant of the number of people that do board). The trip takes 5 to 10 minutes, and the boats pictured, although the actual Regatta boats, are very similar to the ones actually used for passengers crossing the harbour.

Crossings usually start from the Vittoriosa side, but should you require the reverse trip, you may ask the tender to pick you up at a given time, to give you his phone number, or alternatively try to capture his attention from across the harbour, by waving or shouting (seriously - I did this myself).

At Senglea, you will land at the waterfront, very near the Azopardo Bust (see separate entry).

Getting TO/AROUND: At less than a mile at its two farthest points, Senglea is very easily covered on foot. Apart from the small distances to be covered, the places of interest are not that far from each other, and the effort will be even smaller, since you will probably be pausing after very short distances...

Unfortunately, some parts of the city, however, may not be completely accessible to wheelchair users or pushchairs.
