| | Situated at the foot of Tampa Mountains, in the county with the same name, Brasov became better known in Europe because of the international music song festival “Golden Stag”. But, the first written document about Brasov dates from 1235, when the town was mentioned as “Corona”.Later on, the city was also known as Brasco, Brasso, Kronstadt or Brasovia . Due to its geographical position, at the intersection of trade routes linking the Ottoman Empire and Western Europe, Brasov has had a fast economic growth, becoming one of the most important markets in Transylvania. The economical welfare of the city made Brasov develop into an architectural jewel. The old town gates can be seen nowadays, giving the city a medieval touch ( Schei Gate, Catherine’s Gate). Another interesting feature is represented by the seven bastions built through the effort of the main craftsmen corporations, blacksmiths, weavers, goldsmiths, armoires and drummers and they hosted some of the trade centers of the medieval city. Its medieval air, its cultural side(museums, opera, theatre), as well as its modern attractions (shops, excellent restaurants, bars, hotels and pensions) make Brasov one of the most loved cities in Romania.
We don't have many cities in Romania to give as as much as is Brasov offering. The breathtaking nature and the old buildings, good restaurants and nice people, a mixture of locals (romanians, germans, hungarians...) and tourists. I have seen in last years that more and more tourists are coming here, looking for something old and nice and... looking for us. Come once here and for sure you will not regret it. If you need any details or tips about the city, or if you plan to visit it, please don't hesitate to ask us and... we will do our best to help you. |
