County Antrim, Moyle District | Carrick-a-rede rope bridge |
Took a short break to N Ireland in April 09, and stayed a night in Ballycastle.
This is really a page for the Moyle District of County Antrim, rather than for the town itself.
Ballycastle was our "base" but really it could have been anywhere in the area. |
| | musings... The town was a good choice. We were within easy reach of the Giant's Causeway, the Carrick-a-rede rope bridge, Bushmills distillery and so on. It is a pleasant seaside town, and quiet enough at that time of year (April). We reached it easily enough from Belfast with only the last few miles being on country roads.
We could have stayed another couple of nights and visited other coastal towns (Portrush, for example) but didn't have the time.
The setting is marvellous - a beach & harbour, high cliffs, Rathlin Island just offshore and the Scottish coast on the horizon. |
| | outcome... Try it if you want to visit this charming part of Ireland. |
