For some reason I've not been very motivated to write about London, although I've been dozens of times. Maybe it's because I didn't know where to start. Maybe it's because so many visits were for work. Maybe because quite a few turned into nightmares thanks to BA and/or Heathrow (even the IRA one time).
Anyway, I've taken the plunge...broken the ice...so to speak. Probably because its 6pm on 3 January 08, I've been working hard all day, and need to relax (TV being rubbish due to festive season, and reading being impracticable due to kids running around).
Oh, shut up and get on with it - this is not a blog!
First trip - deep in the mists of time...I think it was Easter 1971 (unless you count passing through in 1966, 1968 + 1970 en route to France, Russia etc - it was just railway stations, underground trains etc).
Anyway 1971 was to play rugby (for Aberdeen University on the club's annual Easter tour - est. 1948). We had fun, but best not to dwell on the rowdy details! By one of those odd quirks of fate, we played a game against Harvard University as they were also touring the area at the time.
Last visit (for leisure as opposed to work) - summer of '02 for an ice hockey tournament at London Arena - watching not playing. It was a treat for my son (8 at the time). Again, we had fun but very different fun to my first trip!
- mid 90s, a business trip; train in from Gatwick "terminated" at Clapham due to IRA bomb threat against all mainline stations; had to turn round, and go home (mission not accomplished);
- mid 70s - meeting up with a (gorgeous) girl whilst passing through on my way to France, and (amongst other things) going to see "Shaft" at Leicester Square;
- mid 90s - wonderful dinner (of the formal nature) at the Law Society - can't remember the occasion!
- mid 90's - taking the Lithuanian Ambassador out for lunch.
- Pros:cosmopolitan
- Cons:traffic; prices
- In a nutshell:in no rush to go back

Sounds like an interesting (and somewhat different) location.
I know what you mean re writing about London, it also took me a long time until I finally started building a page. I liked reading your hotel tips, but I'm afraid they're too expensive for me.
