first trip | by the Tevere, looking towards San Pietrio |
Business trip about 1995. Highlights include - sitting down for a beer and sandwich on Via Veneto (a little naively) and paying about £15 each - starting dinner about 8.30 and having to eat 8 courses; actually it was fine, because the food and wine were truly top class We managed a short sightseeing walk, but like most business trips it was all business (and food!). |
| Arco di Costantino, early morning, early December |
| | then... Went back in April 2002. My son was doing a project on the Romans at primary school, and he chose the destination. He loved it and I was really glad we went - it just brought the subject to life for him! We did most of the tourist things |
| | and now... went back in December 07...
stayed 3 nights and had a good time; saw things I'd missed before, ate very well, and enjoyed early December sunshine one of the days...
all slightly spoiled by travel going badly wrong due to strike (5 hours late on outward journey) and ATC (only 4 hours on return journey) both caused by Italians! |
