Lesvos is the 3nd biggest greek island after Crete and Evia.It is situated in the north aegean sea close to Turkish costline and the capital of the island is Mytilene, a city full of great mansions and churches of 19century.

According to mythology, Lesvos was the son-in law of Makaras (the son of the god sun).Μakaras had 5 daughters that gave their names to the 5 most important cities of the Island : Antissa, Arisvi, Issa, Mithimna, Mytilene.Ηe was the first habitant of the island and there is a place that has his name.

Sapfo was the most famous poetess of the ancient greek time, she was borned and raised in Lesvos and according to Platon she was the 10th muse.
Alkaios was a very important poet, he lived the same period with Sapfo.
Pitakos was one of the 7 wise men of ancient Greece, he was borned also in Lesvos.
Τerpandros was a great poet and musician.
Theofrastos was a philosopher that was borned in Eressos and later he left for Athens to be Platon student.
