Kronenberg Castle; The Place to Be or Not to Be | Kronenberg Castle with Moat |
A bit north of Copenhagen lies this beautiful castle that is worth a day trip to go and see. The Castle if famous due to that English guy named Shakespeare who wrote a play called Hamlet. Hamlet, Hamlet, remember reading the play in English class in high school? Oh you were sleeping. Well, here is your chance to redeem yourself and learn the history of this castle and to learn that Hamlet is, well, just a story. The real story is about a 38 year old guy who just happened to be king and he decided to marry a 14 year old girl who ended up becoming one of Denmarks most famous queens when her husband died when she was 32. They had a number of progeny as well. Shocking? Well, hey, this is Danish history at its best. |
| | Where's Hamlet? I kept looking and looking and looking but I couldn't find Hamlet. Then I realized that Hamlet is just a story written by an English guy named Shakespere. Nothing more nothing less. |
| Ship in Harbor with Kronenberg Castle in the Back |
| | Kronenberg Harbor There are a nice number of good looking ships in the harbor. Not that I am a big ship fan but this town made me wish that I was. |

nilsbj Wed Aug 15, 2007 19:19 UTC Hi RawdgerDodger. You got the name of the castle a little wrong, it's KRONBORG. And correct, Hamlet and Kronborg has no connection with each other unless in Shakespeare's play. Greetings, Nilsbj (Dane). |
