  • MOEVENPICK HOTEL CENTRAL PARK ROMA.

We stayed 4 times in this hotel during the winter 2007-08.
Its comfort is perfectly in adequacy with its 4* and the reputation of the Mövenpick group.
We had a room of the “superior” type of 25 m2, which is large for Rome, + terrace with broad sight. Contrary to the room the bathroom is small. The bed was King size.
The hotel is located in the residential district of Monte Mario, north of the centre and near the Gemelli hospital.
The service was impeccable. I just regret that the newspapers were only in Italian, no international press at disposal.
The prices vary from 100 € to 200 € per room/night according to the dates and durations of stay.
For a tourist stay it is indicated to consult their website for a reservation at the best rates.

    Restaurants:
We had three times diner at the restaurant MOSCATI of the hotel. Quality of food, wines and service were excellent. Count 100 - 125 € for two, wine included. Of course this is not a "trattoria"!
Good breakfast with great choice of fresh fruits.

The district comprises very few restaurants. We tested “Trattoria Sacchetti” but the reception was so rude that we went out without eating.
There is a pizzeria near the Gemelli hospital and more close, in the prolongation of the street of the hotel, another pizzeria and bio store where we ate excellent pizza within a simple framework but pleasant staff (Gaia Bio, Lgo Guido Cencetti, 13-14).

Unique Qualities: Connections with the tourist centre of Rome:
Free bus of the hotel every hour towards St Pietro.
There is a regional train, line FM3, at the Gemelli Station, at 3 minutes walk from the hotel. There are 4 to 5 trains per hour in the week towards the centre with the Station San Pietro close to the Vatican. Here there is correspondence with the bus 64 which joins every 6-8 minutes the Piazza Venezia and the Termini station. This line of regional train FM3 has its terminus at the Ostiense Station where there is junction with the metro B at the Piramide station. You need 20 to 40 minutes on the whole to be in the centre. Price ticket 1 €.

Connection with the airport of Fiumicino:
Easiest is the taxi. We paid about 46 €. The drivers took the “strada la piu corta” which passes by the via Aquafredda and correctly changed the meter of tariff 2 (outside town) to tariff 1 (in town) when leaving the highway.
The hotel provides a transfer service towards the airport at 55 €, or 49,50 € with “prenotationne” of 24 hours, which is correct since having a taxi coming to the hotel costs already 4 - 5 €.

Now I must look for this Monte Argentario area. Must be a lovely day trip. Ciao, Carol

Me again, just checking back to read your new tips and updates since my last visit to this page on October 9, 2008. I hope Emperor Augustus had a sense of humor & laughed when his curule chair collapsed in the Theatre of Marcellus. (But I doubt it.)

Je vois que nous partageons une fascination de la Ville éternelle: i pini di roma, foro romano, les églises, et les musées. J'ai même lu les Mémoires d'Hadrien (en français)! Rome me manque déjà...
