Republic of Benin is situated along the south-west coast of Africa, sandwiched between Togo and Nigera. It is a french speaking country and at present is a democratic country. The capital of Benin is Porto Novo, but Cotonou is the largest city in the country. I stayed in this country from Nov '2003 to Aug '2004. |

| | Safe in the city In Benin people are friendly and always willing to mingle. If one is cautious in choosing one can end up making good friends. Beninwas enjoy dance and music a lot and the pubs and discos are worth visiting during the weekends.
Cotonou is relatively a safe town, and one can move around the city any time during the night in own car, but it is better to avoid travelling outside the city and on highways after 7pm. |
