If you are coming into Rome by train, as soon as you exit the station you will be bombarded by guys offering to take you by taxi...for 70$$!! Ya right. We didnt get taken for 70 bucks, we got taken for 30$. Not as bad but still. I would advise anyone going to Rome to pick up a Rick Steves' Book and read what he has to say about these scamers. If you dont want to do that, then go to the TAXI line and wait for a taxi. Make sure they use the meter and you should be fine.

The first ride we took on the metro in Rome we almost got pickpocketed. Luckily Rick Steves' warned us of what to do and what to look for. Pickpockets in Rome are smart. They are usually getting off or pretending to get on the train and as everyone squeezes to get on and off they put their hands in your purse. Luckily we had 4 of us and we were all looking. 2 of them managed to get their hands in purses, but we noticed quick enough that we were able to get their hands out before they took anything. And before we could give them a dirty look the doors were closed and they were gone. Oh and they were both under 10 years old.
