The Lake

If you are driving to Mt. Cook National Park, you pass by Lake Pukaki. I have never seen such blue water in all my life.

A Glacial Lake

I was told by someone who lives there that melting glaciers form the lake, and the water has certain chemicals in it that cause the bright blue color.

Cold Water

You can pull over and walk up to the banks of the lake, but I wouldn't recommend taking a swim. The water is extremely cold.
