Iceland

Lava, glaciers, geo thermal energy, hip and stylish Reykjavik should fit anyone's bill. Summer is a great time to go but....VAMPIRES beware: nearly 24 hours of sunlight and hedonistic weekend nightlife, don't say I didnt warn you. I can and did enjoy...but only for one ong weekend. Would be great to stay for a week and travel to the country's interior.
Nature at its finest

Gulafoss...can't miss

Yes, the drive is long and it is probably the most touristy thing to do in ICELAND, but you have to see this natural wonder. If it is a sunny day and you go later in the day, you might get lucky(like me) and get the rainbow effect. Bring your iPod or a good book because not much going on during the ride up, except a sometimes cheesy narrative from the well intentioned bus driver. About 4 hours roundtrip including the hotsprings.

The Blue Lagoon

OK, I bet this is a 50/50 call for most people because of cost and time involved. However if you are a relaxation freak like me(an oxymoron, no?). a man made, natural heating out door jacuuzi hotspring is just the thing to combat the prior evenings excesses. The guide books and postings make it seem like a party scene, but mostly families and couples when I was there on a Saturday. However, it was soooo relaxing; an adjacent sauna and exfoliating type mud. Charge is equivalent to $25 US to enter and towel ,but I felt it was worth it. A bit of a luxury but very relaxing. And the pictures are cool as hell.
