Simferopol was founded on April 28, 1784 after Crimea was joined to Russia by Katerine II. There was a small tatar town named Ak-Mechet. Till now downtown of the city consists of two parts: tatar and european, and you will easy notify the differences if you take a short tour around the city.
Population of the capital of Crimea is about 400,000 people. It is quite a small and quite a big city at the same time. You can easily walk to any
part of it in 40-45 minutes. Simferopol has a pretty large public transportation system, a big railway station, and an airport. You can get any point of Crimea from Simferopol. There is the trolleybus track (the longest in the World at more than 90 km) which goes from the airport to Yalta.
If you need spend a night there are three hotels in downtown: "Ukraine", "Moscow", and "Tavria". Prices and conditions are different but there is
one commonn thing for all of them - there is no Internet access from any hotel. :-) You can find some Internet cafe and clubs in the center.
There are four theatres in Simferopol which run from September till June.

Simferopol is good vilage

some Simferopol picture There are three most popular hotels in Simferopol: Ukraine, Moscow and Tavria. Hotel "Ukraina" has a best location in center of the city, nearby the main post office. It is oldest, "Soviet-style" hotel, not renovated for last 10-15 years. There is just half of 3rd floor renovated recently. The rooms there are pretty nice and prices from $33 till $63 per night.
They do charge different prices for citizens and foreigners, you can easy guess what price is higher. :-) Cheapest room would cost about $10 per night It is even not a room, but a bed at a room with one-two more beds. This kind of room has no a bathroom or even water - you have to use common bathroom. A single room with bathroom would cost about $50.
Hotel Moscow has rooms with better condition, but this hotel located 15 minutes away from the center and an average price is higher. Best solution could be Tavria hotel. It located also 15-20 minutes away from downtown but a nice single room will cost you $25-30 There is no English speaking people from staff of any hotel, so you have to ask somebody to help you with accomodation. It's possible to reserve a room in any hotel with no extra payment. A private appartment is also available in Simferopol.

Simferopol station

Simferopol is of shame the from end of communism which is nice and green city, but unfortunately there is not any good except green trees, pretty girls, chip vodka only 3 $ per bottle and also you can have perfect diner for 15 $.
And also usually people are Uneducated like hunger.
