Getting TO/AROUND: Crete is not a place where go and stay trapped in a luxury resort. Rent a car and drive around the island! You will discover many wonderful secluded beaches and peaceful mountain villages. You will get the best rates through an internet reservation in al local rental agency. Be careful and look at the insurance options. Normally they don't cover the bottom of the car and tires. It is not allowed to take a ferryboat with a rented car.
