"A peaceful village at WortherSee lake" Pörtschach am Wörthersee by oriettaIT

Here is a view of the whole lake from the top of the panoramic tower near Maria Worth. The day wasn't very good, it rained a lot in the early morning and when I took this picture it was still hazy, but still you can see how wonderful this area is.

Porthshach is the smaller and sleepier village around the lake, this was the main reason why we chose it, we wanted a relaxing quiet place to spend a couple of day before we leave Austria to drive around Slovenia.
We found it perfect, even if the weather didn't cooperate, we had a pleasant time in Portshach.

There are a couple of beach resort with beach games, water slides, boats etc. A very nice trail along the water, built in a green park. Walking along it you will find some little coves that you can make your personal beach and swim in the lake.
The village have several restaurants and hotels, I found the one further from the center, across the railroad, the most affordable and authentic.

The water themperature of this lake really surprised me, even if the air was chilly for the rain and I could not get my sweat shirt off, the water was much warmer and actually they told me it is its special characteristic.
The beach resort hung a sign by the entrance every day writing the water temperature on it.

• Pros:Wonderful landscape, warm water to soak in
• Cons:Can be a little too quiet if you like nightlife (i dont)
