We stopped off the boat at Tower of London but didn't think it was worth paying the fee for the tour when we didn't have sufficient time. I kind of regret this. I like this kind of history but felt like I wanted to save my money (I was being cheap). But you can still walk around the outside and grab a cappuccino from one of the nearby cafes.

If its a nice day, well, even if its not take a boat ride on the River Thames. I believe the best way to see a city is from the water. And London from the river is beautiful. Its especially nice if you have a funny tour guide. If it's nice out you can site on the top of the boat. If the weather is not cooperating sit downstairs and enjoy the warmth and get a beverage. There are lots of ferry companies to chose from. I can't remember the name of the one that we used but it was under the Eye. I had the choice of seeing London by Eye or Ferry and I chose the Ferry. I'm not sure if I missed out but I love water so I was happy. If its a nice day you can also get great pictures of the bridges and stop off at the Tower of London.

I spent a couple of hours in the Portrait Gallery in Trafalgar Square. I really like museums but I can only take them for a couple of hours. The portrait gallery is good for that. Since I was alone I rented one of those self-guided headphone tour things which was great. I'd rather learn interesting information on several pieces then rush through several floors not remembering what paintings I saw. I also visited the the cafe on the bottom floor and had a lovely light salad and glass of wine. Trafalgar square is also and interesting place to hang around in and people watch.

We went to St. Paul's cathedral, however once we saw how much it was to get inside we settled with just taking a quick peek from the entrance and a walk around the church. I can't remember how much it was to get inside but I think it was about $20. I've seen many European churches and Cathedrals in my life time I didn't think missing this one was such a big deal.
