Welcome to my backpack page!

by tmk77 - last update: Jun 24, 2007

Typical backpack breakfast: Croissant and coffee

Me and my travels... travelplans...

To travel and where? That is the question!

Travel projects this summer
Roadtrip from Sweden through Germany, Netherlands and Denmark (duration about 14 days) and also a few days in Copenhagen.

Places I want to visit... plan to visit:
Paris (during autumn)
Syria: Damascus
Turkey
Malta
Spain: Madrid, Barcelona, Sevilla
Albania: Tirana
Lebanon
Australia
Japan (Tokyo and countryside)
Ireland (Eire)

And before the journey starts, a quote from Mr. Chesterton:

The traveler sees what he sees. The tourist sees what he has come to see.
G.K. Chesterton
Backpack, pants, pouches, hidden pocket...

Letīs get ready for travel!

Before you get going itīs essential that you have a good packinglist. This is what i usually brings with me. Hopefully it might give you some good ideas or tips. If you have any good ideas! Please contact me!

My packinglist:
1 pair of zip-off pants (light weight, quick dry, many pockets)
1 pair of jeans
1 pair of shorts (bathing)
2-3 t-shirts (light weight, quick dry)
1 light weight jacket (that stands wind and rain)
1 pair of good walking shoes
1 shirt (Should be nice enough to wear both daily and for going out, also light weight, quick dry, many pockets)
If your clothing/pants doesnīt have any hidden pocket you should get one! (see picture)
underwear and socks
pouches for your dirty laundry and other items (not very expensive and lot better than plastic bags!)
camera (+ extra set of batteries alt. charger)
Sunscreen
Pills (diarea etc.)
condoms
Fork, knife, spoon
toothbrush + toothpaste
strong deodorant
soap and shampoo
toilet paper (when traveling in some countries)

If living in an hostel add:
Bedsheets
towel

To think about:
Travel inasurance / EU Insurance card (if traveling whithin the EU)
ID / Drivers license
Passport
Credit Card

My comments: Buying lightweight-quick-dry clothing is more expensive than regular clothing. However, during backpack travel you will soon see the advantages with that kind of clothes. In my opinion itīs worth the extra money.
