Stratosphere: Nice view

The Stratosphere is a high tower and part of the Stratosphere Casino. When we got inside the casino I thought it was worn and shabby. There were only small shops selling touristy stuff and it was a bit tacky. I would never ever stay at the Stratosphere. We bought the tickets for the tower at the second floor at the ticket booth, but we had to walk through all the shops and cafes to get to the entrance of the tower. Everyone had to pose for a photo before getting in to the elevator.. (hate that..) Up in the tower there's a Starbucks, it was a bit more expensive than other Starbucks. Anyway, you can enjoy the view inside the tower behind the large glass windows.. or you can go outside (up a floor). We almost missed the outside balcony..cause there weren't any signs or anything. I have to admit I was a bit dissapointed as the view over the Strip was quite unimpressive, lots of construction sites.. I think it's better at night! When the neon lights are blinking. There are some rides as well, some crazy rollercoasters where you are tipped outside the tower and then back again.. several times. They close it down when it's too windy. I didn't have the guts to do it though and I never will.

THE STRIP: So much to see and do..

Walking down the Strip can easily take several hours, even days. There is so much to see and experience along the way. You can visit all of the magnificent hotels and casinos lined along the Strip. There are fountain shows, pirate shows, shops.. It's safe in the day and we had no trouble at night either. There are always people around, so you're never alone. If you get tired of walking there are some options. There is a free tram from Mirage to Treasure Island, and there is a monorail that starts at the MGM Grand and ends at Sahara (close to the Stratosphere). But if you want to see it all, the best way is by foot.

Things To Do: The lion habitat at MGM

At the MGM Casino you can see lions in the lion habitat for free. It is also possible to take a photo with lion cubs for around 25 dollars. The lions are let in in the habitat around 10 or 11 AM, most of the day they just sleep and are not really entertaining, so it is best to be there when they are let in. It was really sweet to see them with their trainers and caretakers. They were so cute as they wanted to be cuddled. They were just like big cats. If you're travelling with children or if you're an animal-lover you should see the lion habitat!

Things To Do: Shark Reef at Mandalay Bay

The Shark Reef at Mandalay Bay is pretty cool. It's a selection of exotic fishes, jelly fish, giant rays, sawfish, piranha, crocodiles, turtles.. It's not huge, but it is supposed to be over 2,000 animals. It is open daily from 10 a.m. until 11 p.m. Admission is $15.95 for adults and children 12 years old and younger $10.95. I loved the shark reef, especially fascinating was the sawfish. It was very cool. They have a small petting pool, where you can touch a ray fish. We spent around an hour inside. There is also a gift shop at the end. It's not the most amazing aquarium but it's a cool and fun break in crazy Vegas. Especially good for families with children..

We went by the Coca Cola building several times, I don't really know it's inside BUT one I noticed one great thing and that it is the ticket booth inside. They sell show tickets at half price to today and tomorrows shows. You won't find the most popular shows such as Cirque de Soleil because these shows sell out anyway, but it's a great option if you want to see ex. Mamma Mia. I think it's mostly the same tickets every day, so you can come by early during your stay to check out what's playing and to which shows you can get cheap tickets. It is cheaper than the ticket outlets at Fashion Show Mall and the other one located further down (up north..) at the Strip.
