Naxos is my second trip to Greece after Santorini. Differently from Santorini, when we arrived to Naxos I found myself in front of the Greece I've always imagined. A few tourists (we went there in June), a lot of Greek families on holiday, narrow streets and whitish buildings (not perfectly white as in Santorini), old people dressed in black sitting outside their houses and only a few cars. People are very friendly, they love their island and provided us with precious pieces of advice. Naxos is still a quiet island, perfect to relax after months of stress. |

Unspoiled beaches Almost all Naxos beaches are unspoiled. We found beautiful and almost desert beaches on the coast between Mikri Vigla and Pyrgaki, but we were told that also beaches from Moutsouna and Panermos are nice though too isolated. What we liked the most is that you can chose your own private beach and change it every day. If you are looking for chaos and noise, this is not the right place for you. |
Local people Local people are very friendly. Even when the do not speak English, they try to help you out as they can. |

nickandchris Mon Jul 7, 2008 11:55 UTC Lovely photos and good tips. Lookslike you had a great time. PS. Why did you make me your friend? | om_212 Sat Sep 8, 2007 15:16 UTC a lot of very useful and recent tips. | Ken-out-of-Bath Fri Aug 24, 2007 09:45 UTC The St George Hotel is lovely! I also preferred eating at the beachside tavernas to the main square - although getting grilled octopus with a beer there was great. |
