Atlanta - Capital of the South, hmmm

WaRPin' in Georgia

Atlanta Skyline
This city is supposed to be my (3rd) home for the next, at least, 2-3 years.
Aside from my school's 'Tech Junkies' reputation, there are a couple more reasons I choose to live here. First, it's a big city (not quite a 'metro' though) with multi-cultural vibes. Second, its mild weather...and last, the PEOPLE (a.k.a. Southern hospitality).
Georgia Aquarium

US#5 Most Dangerous City?!?

I would not argue that downtown Atlanta is relatively dangerous (I almost every other big cities around the world). Especially around Five Points MARTA Station up to Centennial Olympic Park area, where I've been harassed by homeless people a couple of times. But since most of Atlanta's attractions including World of Coca-Cola, Georgia Aquarium and CNN Headquarter are clustered around that area...that means, as a tourist, you couldn't really avoid going down there.

So my advice is just to take extra precautions. Keep yourself on track, be cool and do not wander alone after dark and you're gonna be more than just fine.
Midtown Area, Atlanta

Midtown area -- The new business district

Located between Downtown and Buckhead, Midtown is a new business / residential area, most of its residents are young professionals and students. And the most important (for myself)...this is where Georgia Tech's campus is located ^o^ After all, I think Atlanta has a lot to offer; Hi-tech facilities blended with slower-pace Southern charm, good (soul) food, and affordable living expenses...what else do I need?

Pros:"Lots of green spaces, warm weather, ok public facilities"
Cons:"Occanional heatwaves, The MARTA public transportation is not very extensive"

Nice restaurant tips, I think you arrived there when I was there, we had 100 degrees days for 3 days in a row. But I loved the city.
