Bus to Bac Ha -- I was almost fainted

We took an overnight train from Hanoi to Lao Cai, then a bus from Lao Cai to Bac Ha. The bus station is just as little as half a mile away but the *** taxi driver took us all the other way around and charged us 10 bucks for being "FOOLISH".

(Picture) On the way to Bac Ha, a hill-tribers' market where they trade their goods (mostly crops, live animals and clothing) for money (and gasoline) every Saturday. A little surprised when we found that some of them were speakin' Thai.

We got back to Lao Cai around 7 pm the same day, made a stop at the restaurant near the train station. We talked to the owner of that 'biggest' restaurant, and realized that she owns everything around that place! She got us a van to Sapa which took a about an hour.
