Restaurant Name: Ban Khun Mae
A very nice Thai Food @ the heart of Siam Square...... The food here is traditional, but as most of the customers are foriegner, the food is mild and not too spicy. I once took my aunt and cousins (Americans) and they were really impressed and got back to eat here more than 4-5 time within their 3-week stay!! Overall -- 4.5 Stars, and the price isn't that expensive. Also live Thai classical music is available on Sats and Suns.
Favorite Dish: Recommend menus: Any Thai spicy salads (e.g. Grass noodle, fruits, seafood,...), Pad-Thai, Tom-Yum, and finish your meal with sticky rice with mango...yummmmm

Restaurant Name: Eating out in Chinatown
One of the MUST things to do in Bangkok nights out. You'll find an endless street vendors all across the street and soi (lanes). If you're into Chinese food, try the fish maw soup (Kra-Poh-Pla) or shark fin soup (Hoo-Cha-Laam) and finish it up with Ginko in sweet syrup (Pa-Kuay) There's also a very good Pad-Thai in front of the Kikuya (ask the locals they know everything) (Tue-Sat only). Here's the list of food you should try: -------------------------------- ------------------------- Pad-Thai (kikuya) Pork Rice Porridge (opposite kikuya) Fishball Noodle -- Song Waad Lane Chinese Dumpling (Kanom-Jeeb) -- Song Waad Lane, in front of 7/11 Grilled satay pork -- The largest food lane, I don't know it's name Chinese Chestnut (Kao-Ludd) Chinese Herbal Dessert (Tao-Tueng) in front of Verasu Tower
Favorite Dish: Everything here is good.....really

Restaurant Name: Food Loft
Whether you can't decide what to eat, or looking for something new -- this might be the answer for you. The food loft has everything from Indian to Italian, with the price less than 7 bucks a dish (and of course, good quality.) Rice noodle in Tom Yum spicy soup with king prawn is my all-time favourite.....nothing to describe...it's just soooo good!! The Vietnamese and Chinese sections are also thumbs up, the only section I don't recommend is Japanese. Be there a little before 11:30, or there'd be no tables left.
Favorite Dish: Tom Yum soup + king prawn in Thai Section

Restaurant Name: Jae-Kee (Soi Polo)
Located around the city, not very far from Silom road. Papaya Salad (Som-Tum) -- the most famous dish from the North-Western part of Thailand. This restaurant offers a nice, clean food (despite from most of Som-Tum street vendors) and also air-conditioned. The dishes are mild and not very hot (you can ask the waiters for more chilli or no spicy at all.) The fried-chicken here is the talk of the town. Opens from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. daily
Favorite Dish: Fried-Chicken, Tom-Zaab

Restaurant Name: Dairy Queen Seafood Restaurant
It's a little out of the city, but worth drivin'. This is one of the largest seafood restaurant in Bangkok, and what's so special? You can take a good view of Chao Praya River or even have a dinner cruise along the one and only river in Bangkok. The food here is very nice; try Hor-Mok Ka-Nom-Krok, Kang-Som Cha-Om-Kai, Raw shrimp in fish sauce, Mi-Krob and many more!! goutammitra Wed Mar 5, 2008 09:12 UTC Hey we will be there in 2009! Lat time I was there in 1984. The place has chaged a lot. A must to visit. Please tell me about your Kathmandu trip. | SLLiew Wed Feb 27, 2008 18:25 UTC Great restaurant tips. There is so much to do, see, eat and shop in Bangkok. I also enjoy the river boat taxis. Cheers from Penang, SL :) |
