My first location in Vietnam | The most photographed bridge in the world?? |
I find Hanoi a very interesting and contrasting city to visit with a good blend of local Vietnamese and French influence. One cannot fail to notice that the one single most impactful influence left by the French in Vietnamese soil is BAGUETTE. In addition, the French Quarters in the other side of town has also a foothold in the local scene.
Hanoi is such a easy to city to navigate and visit with everything almost on walking distance. I toured the city on nothing but my pair of feet, a bottle of water and a map. Below are my itinerary of of city tour by foot:
Day 1 Hostel - Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum - Heroes Memorial - The Vietnam Military History Museum - One Pillar Pagoda - Ho Chi Ming Museum - Presdential Palace - Quan Thanh Temple - Tran Quoc Temple - Temple of Literature
Day 2 Hao Lo Prison - St. Joseph Cathedral - French Quarters - Hoa Kiem Lake/Ngoc Son Temple - Old Quaters - Bach Ma Temple |
| | Traffic Jam.. I think if Fear Factor would want to make a scene, they should take some contestants and make them cross the street of Hanoi blindfolded! This picture was taken on a small 2 lane road in the heart of the city. I think at least 100 motorcycles and 20 cars are trying to cross a junction in a matter of seconds. Very scary stuff.. |
| | Cheap roadside food stalls.. Does this look yummy to you or what?? |
