Hushan great wall is about 15km north of Dandong. You can reach it by buying a 4RMB ticket from the Dandong bus terminal(right across from the trainstation). There are buses at all times of day. When I went, it was easy to tell when we had arrived at Hushan - almost everybody got off the bus there. But to be safe, ask the ticketseller to tell you when they stop at Hushan.
The great wall here has been reconstructed in recent years - although the eastern end of the "proper" Great Wall is in Shanhaiguan, Hushan marks the eastern end of the Ming Dynasty's extension to the Great Wall. At the very end of the wall is a museum which we didn't enter...
...because before we got there, we saw a sign pointing the way to "Yibukua", the North Korean border crossing point! After a short hike along the cliffside, we arrived there(seems you can also go down to the museum then ask a boat to take you there), only to find that the water level was high enough to make any border crossing difficult. Read the travelogue for the rest of the story!

Hi, great story! Me and some friends are also planning to go there. Do you think the water level will be high around 16th April? I really wanna make it into North Korea, but I don't have the money to book a 5-day tour or something.
Either very intrepid or very stupid!
Ha ha, this is why I only visit Hushan during the coldest part of winter. Of course it's easier to cross when the stream is frozen. I enjoyed your travelogue and applaud your successful infiltration! Good job! Well done!
